WHAT IS N.O.A ?
An NOA certificate is issued by Miami Dade County when they certify that a specific product impact glass technology and structural integrity for the manufacturing process utilized, meets or exceeds their rigorous requirements.
It assures the tested product has passed the strict impact resistance testing for extreme weather events.
To assure that the products being used are approved by the State of Florida you should ask for the Product Approval page. You can also look up a specific impact window or door by going to www.floridabuilding.org. Most of the products listed are also linked to the Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance.
Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) are set forth by Miami-Dade county for all construction trades. They all have Florida Product Approval, but the installation methods are much stricter. In Miami-Dade & Broward Counties you have to comply with Miami-Dade’s building code, they take precedence over the Florida Product Approval. If you are located in either of these two counties or any other county in Florida and want your windows installed according to the Miami-Dade NOA, you should request your contractor to provide you with this information or you could just look it up on Miami-Dade’s website www.miamidade.gov/buildingcode/pc-search_app.asp.
The N.O.A certificate also provides information for architects and engineers, as well as construction managers so they can identify necessary sizes of particular parts, the type of accessories and materials Miami Dade County authorities require. The manufacturer must provide a copy of the NOA to the installer, who has it displayed and available throughout the entire assembly and installation process if an authority requests it.
